A standard name is not a performance guarantee
Wi-Fi 7 introduces capabilities such as Multi-Link Operation, or MLO, and wider channels under suitable conditions. Benefits depend on client support, configuration and regional spectrum availability as well as the access point. Cisco’s design guide discusses these dependencies. The theoretical speed on a product box should not be interpreted as the speed every meeting-room user will experience.

Measure where the problem occurs
Dropped meetings are not always caused by the wireless standard. Placement, congestion, the internet connection and the application also deserve attention. Record the room, number of connected people and affected application. Comparing the same activity over a wired connection can help the assessment. Turn the complaint into a measurable problem before selecting replacement access points.
Check clients and the wired infrastructure together
List the capabilities supported by office computers and phones. If most clients are older, the initial benefit may differ from the newest advertised features. Switch ports, power requirements and cabling also belong in the project scope. Comparing only access-point prices may leave unexpected equipment requirements to be discovered during deployment. Ask for the whole connection path to be assessed.
Choose a pilot that represents demanding use
For example, compare the current and proposed setups on a floor with frequent meetings under similar conditions. Monitor application responsiveness, connectivity while moving and support requests. A speed test with one device may not represent a crowded workspace. Record the clients and test conditions in the report; results cannot be meaningfully compared without that context.
Connect the upgrade to need and lifecycle
If the existing network is stable and client devices will remain unchanged, an immediate office-wide replacement may not be necessary. A new office or a planned hardware refresh is a useful opportunity for a broader assessment. Base the decision on management, support, coverage and growth as well as speed. The best project meets a measured requirement rather than simply carrying the newest label.
